Our Team

Sarah Brown - owner/teacher

Owner, Sarah Brown, graduated in 1997 from Florida State University with a  Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education.  Upon graduating, she landed her first teaching job in Gadsden County where she was awarded Teacher of the Year her second year of teaching.  While teaching at St. John Elementary in Quincy, Florida, Sarah became an expert in teaching reading using phonemic awareness, educating fellow teachers on this widely accepted method to teach young children  to read.  Sarah started Timberlane Arts and Dance Academy in 2013.  This music and dance school offers lessons to all ages two through adult in many dance genres and musical instruments and has been named Best Music Lessons Studio as well as Best Dance Studio. Sarah is married to KC Brown who helps run TADA and has two children, Emily and Collin.

Nancy Witter - director/teacher

Director, Nancy Witter, graduated in 2003 from Florida State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Development.  In 2007, Nancy obtained ESE Certification  allowing her to teach children with special needs.  She attended Capella University in Minnesota, graduating in 2008 with a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling.  Subsequently, Nancy began working in the local school districts to include Leon, Wakulla, Gadsden, Taylor and Madison Counties.  She focused on play therapy techniques for behavior modification for children in  preschool through fifth grade. Nancy has two children, Shelby and Rhett.

Cinda Shapiro - teacher

Ms. Cinda is in her eighth year of caring for Tallahassee's little ones.  She's rocked and loved on infants, helping them take their first steps and say their first words.  She's read stories to toddlers and sang songs to them peaking their love of learning and she now works with all ages at TADA preschool.  Cinda also enjoys spending time with her family and rooting on the FSU Seminoles.

Tiffany Vaughn is a classical guitarist based in Tallahassee, Florida. She has been teaching music to students in and around the Big Bend for the past 10 years. Vaughn began her study of the guitar at age 12 with Tallahassee guitar education luminary David Hoge. She then went on to study with Ed Prasse at Leon High School where she was a two-time participant in the FMEA All-State Guitar Ensemble, the president of the premiere Leon High guitar ensemble, Frets, and completed a major international guitar education project, Frets in the Philippines. All of these achievements and contributions to the guitar led Vaughn to be selected as one of the Best & Brightest students in Leon County. Vaughn then earned a spot at Florida State University studying the classical guitar with world renowned pedagogue Bruce Holzman. During her time at FSU, Vaughn was a finalist in the Southern Guitar Festival Ensemble Competition as a member of Duo Nox with fellow guitarist Brandon Dinh. With her former teacher, David Hoge, she aided in the development of a virtual high school guitar education course that is now used across the United States. She was also a member of several student organizations and held positions including President of The Classical Guitar Society at FSU and Assistant Production Manager of Club Downunder. Tiffany has performed extensively in the local Tallahassee music scene with several groups, and completed a six-state tour of the southeastern U.S. with her rock group Camp Green Lake.  Vaughn’s current work as a guitarist has her leading one of the most extensive and successful studios in Tallahassee at Timberlane Arts and Dance Academy.

Darrian Lee - violin and piano instructor

Darrian Lee is a violinist devoted to pedagogy, advocating for women in music, and performance excellence. As a performer, Darrian has taken on roles as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. Performances have taken her across the United States and abroad. As a soloist, Darrian has performed with the Belmont University Symphony Orchestra as a winner of the 2018 and 2020 Concerto Competitions. She has also performed with a wide range of regional orchestras, including the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. 

Darrian is very passionate about collaborating with living composers and almost exclusively programs contemporary classical music. Notably, Darrian premiered the violin version of Song Without Words by Augusta Read Thomas in 2023, and the piano reduction version of Vermilion Violin Concerto by Stephanie Ann Boyd in 2025. 

While completing her doctorate at Florida State University, Darrian has also taught private and group lessons at several institutions. Currently, Darrian is a Fine Arts Adjunct for violin and viola at Enterprise State Community College, in Enterprise, Alabama. She was also the Strings Director at the new performing arts charter school, Floretta P. Carson Visual and Performing Arts Academy, in Mobile, Alabama. Darrian was also a graduate assistant for the studio of Corinne Stillwell and maintained a private studio as well. 

Advocating for women is a primary goal of Darrian’s career. In 2022, she founded the nonprofit HERo Music that focuses on promoting and connecting women in music. Through HERo, Darrian has held numerous community concerts, a joint concert with the Florida State University Symphony Orchestra, and the inaugural HERo Conference in 2023. She also facilitated the U.S. premiere of Festival Scherzo by Madeleine Dring with international piano soloist Antonio Oyarzabal at the HERo Conference. Darrian also hosts the HERo Talk podcast where she interviews women in classical music, such as Chee-Yun Kim, Miranda Cuckson, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, and many more. The HERo Talk podcast was ranked #4 in Women in Music Podcasts in 2024. 

Darrian holds a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Belmont University and a master’s degree in violin performance from Florida State University.
